Why not hire the library?
Have you ever considered hiring Oundle Library for events? Now the book shelves can be moved aside to clear the main floor the space can be configured in different ways and will hold up to 100 people. The rates are reasonable and the building well-equipped, which makes it very good value.
The space
The transformation happened during the pandemic, when as well as building The Cover in the garden, the library interior also had a bit of a re-fit. New mobile book shelves can be moved to clear the main floor of the library, which means the space can be used for all sorts of events – from talks and presentations with a seated audience, to table-top fairs. And a new Fire Exit means the building can accommodate up to 100 people at one time.
With its own car park, disabled access (no stairs), a well equipped kitchen and disabled toilet facilities, plus the garden and covered patio area, Oundle Library is a really great venue for our community.
During opening hours
When the library is open, there’s a small office available to hire, and depending on the event, you might be able to hire other areas in the building too. Just ask at the library to see what’s possible because the staff will do what they can to help.
Out of hours
Community groups who want to use the library for events ‘out of hours’ can also talk to the library team about hiring the space. The cost for hiring the whole building is just £10.50 per hour plus a £35 surcharge for staff to attend to lock up afterwards. For regular events you might be able to appoint a keyholder so you can take responsibility for unlocking and locking up yourselves and avoid the surcharge. Again, we suggest you should talk to library staff to discuss what is possible.
Digital projector
Thanks to the generosity of Barrie Harbott we’ve recently obtained a wonderful digital projector. The projector was looking for a new home and FOOL was delighted to assist. But we hasten to add that it isn’t exclusively for use at the library. We’ll be delighted to loan it to other local groups and community organisations to use at other venues if required.
