Oundle Library as a venue
Have you ever considered using Oundle Library as a venue for events? All the book shelves can be moved aside to clear the main floor so the space can be configured in different ways. The rates are reasonable and the building well-equipped, which makes it very good value.
The space
Book shelves can be moved to clear the main floor and create a large, open space that can be used for all sorts of events – from talks and presentations to table-top fairs. Fire regulations allow the building to accommodate up to 100 people at one time, or a seated audience of 50.
Facilities
With it’s own car park, good disabled access, a well equipped kitchen and disabled toilet facilities, as well as free WiFi, the garden and covered patio area, Oundle Library is a really great venue for our community.
During opening hours
When the library is open, there are a couple of rooms available which are particularly suited to meetings and local groups can use these free of charge. Depending on the event, you might be able to hire other areas in the building too. Just ask at the library to see what’s possible because the staff will do what they can to help.
Out of hours
Community groups who want to use the library for events ‘out of hours’ should also talk to the library team about hiring the space. The cost for hiring the whole building is just £10.50 per hour plus a £35 surcharge for staff to attend to lock up afterwards. For regular events you might be able to appoint a keyholder so you can take responsibility for unlocking and locking up yourselves and avoid the surcharge. Again, we suggest you should talk to library staff to discuss what is possible.
Digital projector
Thanks to the generosity of Barrie Harbott we also have a digital projector. The projector was looking for a new home and FOOL was delighted to assist. But we hasten to add that it isn’t exclusively for use at the library. We’ll be delighted to loan it to other local groups and community organisations to use at other venues if required. Please let people know that Oundle Library is available to hire. Many will be unaware that the interior space is so versatile and we want to spread the word that the library is a great local venue and great value.
