It's the small things
As Friends of Oundle Library we all want to see our library succeed and, as Friends, there are various small ways you could assist the FOOL committee. None are time-consuming or difficult, but they’d be a huge help. If you see anything below that appeals you’ll find our contact details at the bottom of the page.
Do you live in a village?
The catchment area that Oundle Library serves is large and includes many villages. Most villages have notice boards and we’d like to create a list of Village Helpers who would pin our posters on the boards where they live. We could either send you the information by email to print at home, or arrange for you to collect a printed poster from Oundle Library.
We know that putting our posters in villages boosts attendance at events, so please let us know if you could do this for us.
Social media?
We currently post on the Friends of Oundle Library Facebook page every week, telling people what’s happening at the library. We also share our posts on other local Facebook pages … but we realise not everyone uses Facebook.
If you use other social media platforms or websites, please would you let us know what they are? That would help us improve our social media profile and we’d join other services if possible.
We’re also interested in finding ways to let people living in villages see our posts. We know lots of local villages have their own social media pages, so if you could share our posts on these we’d be very grateful.
Could you help us with books?
As new books arrive at Oundle Library, older books are moved on in order to make space on the shelves. We currently offer the best of these books for sale at Fletton House, but we know we could raise more money by selling them through new and different outlets, and through book sales. In the past, selling ex-stock library books has been a great fundraiser for us.
Ideally, we’d like to recruit a small team of book-loving volunteers to plan and manage our book-selling activity – not least because we hate seeing good books wasted! Would you help?
Help at events?
The FOOL committee is always thinking about what events it might be able to organise at Oundle Library. If you have any thoughts or suggestions please do send us your ideas.
And if you were able to help the committee at an event, would you put yourself on our Helpers List? We would always ask you well in advance and tell you the sort of help we’re looking for. It might be something like taking tickets at the door, or helping to serve refreshments, but having some extra pairs of hands on the day is really important!
